Baby Girl and Daddy were scheduled to attend a Daddy/Daughter dance the other weekend, so I need to come up with a dress, that I could finish quickly.  Since, I did not have a lot of time to make a dress, I remembered I still had this pink blue and mint Isla Eve dress by Snazziedrawers I had started 2 years ago! Snazziedrawers has since closed her sewing pattern company, however you can still find the Isla Eve dress here on Craftsy.  I am not sure how long it will be there, so grab it now while you can.  It is an amazing sewing pattern.  I paired them up with some Rosie’s Ruffled Leggings in pink stretch lace. They can be found here by Mamma Can Do it.  See info for a sew a long further down in this post.

I made Baby Girl a pink and gray Isla Eve for her first birthday. I actually cut out the fabric for this pink, gold and blue Isla Eve dress at the same time.  Then, other projects came up and was put to the side.  Then came her second birthday.  I started sewing everything together, except the straps and the two underskirts.  At that moment, I thought to myself, I love this dress, but I cannot let her wear it while eating her cake.  So, I started making her another dress to wear just during cake time.  That is when I came up with her Butterfly Birthday Dress.  It was supposed to be a simple dress, however, OMG! I was in love and decided that would now be her 2nd birthday dress.  The 3D butterflies were perfect for visiting the Butterfly house on her birthday.  She ended up wearing store bought clothes for eating her cake.  The Isla Eve went, again, unfinished….

The dress is a 12-24 size, so the shirring on the back really extends the length of time they can wear the dress.  The Isla Eve is well worth the effort. In fact, the dress is far easier to make than it looks.  For the Daddy and Daughter dance, I was able to finish it!  I was so excited!  What a fun dress for the Under the Sea theme too!  There is only one problem……

Baby Girl did not like the dress, okay she hated it.  I was so sad!  She literally cried.  Baby Girl told me she does not like sparkles.  However, we have now come to the realization that it is not the sparkle she does not like, but the sequins. As, she was fine wearing her Pink Sparkly French Terry Spirited Dress the other day. I understand completely, sequins can be a little rough to wear.   I thought, maybe if she wore it for a few minutes, she may change her mind.

However, the crying and pouting continued.  She was adamant she did not want to wear the dress.  Even though, she looked absolutely adorable in her pink, gold and blue sparkly Isla Eve, I wanted her, above all, to have fun at the Daddy/Daughter dance.  She had been looking forward to it and talking about the dancing with her Daddy for a couple of weeks.  So, I made her a deal! I told her if she gave me a smile in that dress, I would let her wear a different dress. She agreed to the deal.

She then gave me this adorable smile!  Afterwards, she immediately asked if she could change dresses now.  So we did.  However, before I show you the dress let me show you the Rosie Ruffled Leggings!

Baby Girl absolutely loves these leggings, as do I!  You may remember her Purple Lace Rosie Ruffled Leggings.  When I said I needed them in every color, I was not joking! There will definitely be more in our future; tons of them.  The ruffled leggings are super simple to make and can be made in all types of fabric.  Luckily, the pink color went well with both dresses.

Want to make your own Rosie’s Ruffled Leggings?  It is perfect timing!  Sly Fox Fabrics is hosting a sew a long for the leggings here in their Sew A Long group.  It starts tomorrow, so sign up now!

We ended up choosing her Easter Isla Eve dress I made her last year.  This is one of my favorite dresses I have even made and I am glad she agrees on this one.  She gave me a huge hug and said “I love this dress! Thank you!”  Even though, it hurt a little that she did not like the sequin dress, I was glad she was happy and ready to have fun.

Plus, real smiles are the best! Daddy said she had a great time at the dance.  He told me her little best friend loved her pastel rainbow dress and kept petting it. LOL! It was misting outside and her shoes got a little wet and he said she cried and said, “My shoes are ruined!”.  In reality, they were just wet and doing just fine.  She is such a silly girl.

Maybe one day, before she outgrows it, she will change her mind on the sequin Isla Eve!  Do not forget to grab your Isla Eve pattern here, before it is gone!  Plus grab the Rosie ruffled leggings by Mamma Can Do it here!  Let me know in the comments if your little one has ever disliked an outfit you made them!
