I will be honest, I am not much of a skirt person.  I normally would not have applied for this test, however Ellie and Mac is doing a giveaway and each item you test this month enters you to win an amazing prize.  I really want the the prize too!  Lol!  So I said, why not try it and to my surprise I actually like this skirt!

The skirt comes in both long and short lengths.  I chose the short length.  I am only 5’0″ so I did take about an inch off the ruffle to shorten the skirt just a tad.  The pattern calls for a more stable knit than I actually used, but I had this idea of a super sparkly skirt and I had to try it.  I used some white sparkle sweater knit from Simply By Ti and some silver metallic knit by Miss Nancy. I also used the white sparkle sweater knit in my Mommy and Me Catherine Ponchos.

The shirt I am wearing is store bought.  Sorry, I am working on building up a completely handmade wardrobe.  The good news though, working on my fitness and eating this year, this is a very old top from before I had babies!  I am starting to fit into my old clothes again. Yay!  Leave me a comment below on what top I should make for this skirt. I was thinking the Fall in Love Sweater by Ellie and Mac.  I still have a bit of a Mommy belly, but what is nice about this skirt it is adjustable to your own measurements, so I was able to cover my small little pouch.  🙂

The cardigan is the Cocoon Cardigan from Patterns for Pirates in a navy and silver reversible sequins from Joann Fabric.  I actually made it for an outfit for a wedding I attending in October.  I have not blogged about that outfit yet, however I should do that soon.

Overall, I think I have a great start to an amazing homemade New Years Eve outfit.  You can buy the Wrap Skirt by Ellie and Mac here and be sure to check out all of her patterns, as everything is 50% off right now!!  Woot Woot!  No coupon is necessary, the discount will automatically show up in your cart.

Now for the Giveaway!  Who wants to win one yard of white sparkle sweater knit from Simply By Ti and one yard of silver metallic knit from Joann Fabric???  Enter to below!  Giveaway is only open for the weekend!

About Seams Sew Lo 173 Articles
Hi I'm Lo and I love to sew and I also love to play with my two children! I am a work at home Mom of two toddlers.  I never planned on staying home with the kids, however when I was 8 and 1/2 months pregnant with my first child, Little Dude, I was unexpectedly let go from my corporate job.  With a newborn and a tough job market, I decided to buy a Brother Sewing/Embroidery Machine and taught myself to sew. I would like to thank the many bloggers, youtube videos I have watched and PDF pattern designers for all their help. With a degree in International Business from Blaise-Pascal University in France I decided to open my own business, an Etsy shop.  I started making baby leg warmers and then added embroidered bodysuits.  I was so busy I couldn't keep up and had to seek out third party help. After my second child, Baby Girl, life became super busy.  There is something about little girls clothes that makes them so much fun to create.  I started venturing out to more articles of clothing.  It has been a fun adventure. I am learning as I go.  I sometimes skip steps or take short cuts, sometimes I take a long road to get where I need to go.  I don't think sewing needs to be perfect, I think it should be fun!!
