This may be week #159 of Sunday Lately with the Blogger Tribe, however it is my very first time joining in the fun! This week’s blog tour is hosted by the wonderful ladies at Wild and Wanderful and Glitter and Engine Grease.

The themes for this Sunday are Redoing, Altering and Borrowing

Redoing:  This past week I made something for Baby Girl for gymnastics.  Okay, maybe I made a few of them! I cannot show you yet, however I can show you a photo prop I redid for her photo shoot.  I am definitely the type to completely redo something just for a photo!

This cute little balance beam, did not used to look so cute.  It was red with yellow and white stripes and the paint was falling off.  It was so ugly.  I actually purchased it from a friend for Little Dude when he was younger.  Baby Girl has taken more of interest in it lately and she said she wanted a pink one.  I am sure no one is surprised!

I painted it while she was napping and Little Dude was in school.  She was not too happy when she woke up, because she wanted to help me paint it.  Little Dude was not so happy I painted it pink.  Oops!  I tried to explain to her the paint I needed to use was only for Mommies and Daddies.  I used one of my favorite paints, Plutonium in the color Vegas.  Let’s just say it may or may not match what I made her for gymnastics.  Look out for a post later this week, or maybe Thursday.  🙂

I also added some vinyl to her balance beam.  It says “Balance”. ( You can get the free svg file here) I know, super original!  It was a random 60 degree day and it was quickly dropping down to freezing in just a couple hours!  Brrr!!

Yes, that is glitter you see on the pink balance beam!  I love all things glittery.  Baby Girl is not quite on board yet, but I am working on it.  I did not want the paint nor the vinyl to come off, so I added a coat of Mod Podge Extreme Glitter.  I love this stuff and wish I could put it on everything! It is so pretty. (It is actually on sale right now go grab so before the price changes here.)  Eventually, after some crying, then letting Baby Girl paint something else, she came to love her newly redone balance beam.  I cannot wait to show you the rest of this picture below! (Remember Thursday!)

Altering:  I plan on altering these two adorable wooden bins for my crafting room this week.

I planned to do it last week.  Unfortunately, I ran out of time.  Maybe if you tell you I am going to do it this week, it will actually happen.  I am thinking some marzipan milk paint.  I love this color and use it all over my house.  You can see a sofa table I redid in the same color here.  I even painted my fireplace with it!  Of course, I will need to add some vinyl!  My new silhouette cameo 3 is getting put to good use lately!

Borrowing:  Hmm?  Today, I will we borrowing my husbands car to head to the store.  It is snowing today and cold!  I can start his car from inside the house and it has 4 wheel drive.   My little hybrid has neither.  Stay warm this Sunday!

About Seams Sew Lo 173 Articles
Hi I'm Lo and I love to sew and I also love to play with my two children! I am a work at home Mom of two toddlers.  I never planned on staying home with the kids, however when I was 8 and 1/2 months pregnant with my first child, Little Dude, I was unexpectedly let go from my corporate job.  With a newborn and a tough job market, I decided to buy a Brother Sewing/Embroidery Machine and taught myself to sew. I would like to thank the many bloggers, youtube videos I have watched and PDF pattern designers for all their help. With a degree in International Business from Blaise-Pascal University in France I decided to open my own business, an Etsy shop.  I started making baby leg warmers and then added embroidered bodysuits.  I was so busy I couldn't keep up and had to seek out third party help. After my second child, Baby Girl, life became super busy.  There is something about little girls clothes that makes them so much fun to create.  I started venturing out to more articles of clothing.  It has been a fun adventure. I am learning as I go.  I sometimes skip steps or take short cuts, sometimes I take a long road to get where I need to go.  I don't think sewing needs to be perfect, I think it should be fun!!

  1. Love the balance beam! Such a pretty shade of pink and the glitter adds a nice finishing touch. Those crates are going to look awesome in the marzipan paint! 🙂
