The Be Amazing Dress sewing is well… amazing! It is so much fun. I love a good girls party dress sewing pattern.
I used minky fabric from Fabric Empire for both the bodice and the skirt. I used a black dimple dot minky fabric (here) for the skirt and pink damask minky for the bodice. Unfortunately I purchased the pink minky damask fabric years ago and no longer see it in their shop. Originally I was going to use the pink minky damask fabric as a blanket. However, as you can see, that never happened!
This was my first time ever working with Horsehair Braid. This pattern calls for 1 inch Horsehair Braid, you can find some here. Working with Horsehair Braid was much easier than expected. When trying something for the first time, I get a little nervous, but this was so easy. I love the structure the Horsehair Braid gives to the hem of the skirt. The directions in the pattern really help describe how to use the Horsehair Braid. I did make one small change…
The hardest thing about sewing for me is picking out which fabric to use. I changed my several times. When I bought my Horsehair braid, I had not yet decided on the black minky fabric. I only had white Horsehair braid and since this pattern is a high low skirt, you could see the white Horsehair braid. I should have purchased this black Horsehair braid instead. To fix it, I just rolled the hem up one more time and stitched! Doing this made the pattern a little shorter than designed. It is okay, she can just wear some fun leggings underneath!
