Have you seen the newest Mommy and Me Poncho Sewing Patterns by Seamingly Smitten yet? They are so much fun! The patterns are on SALE for 48 hours only!  I am very excited for this new poncho sewing pattern, because it actually has actual sewing pattern pieces!  Many poncho sewing patterns I have seen around, just describe how to measure and cut your fabric, but not this one.  There is no guess work.  Another great thing is it has sleeves! Actual sewn sleeves!

You do not need any buttons for closure, the sleeves are sewn.  My daughter has a store bought poncho, however she refuses to wear, as it has not sleeves.  With the Catherine Poncho she can still do all of her busy activities while wearing the poncho.

The Catherine poncho by Seamingly Smitten can also be made with a cowl or a hood with a cowl neck.  For our Mommy and me version, I decided to try the Mommy the hood with cowl neck version, because my daughters loves hoods.  Which is the total opposite of her brother.

I thought the hood would help keep her warmer.  It was pretty cold outside the day we took pictures and she stayed relatively warm.  Her little hands got a little cold.  This morning it was actually chilly inside the house, so I wore mine while working on this blog post.  The Catherine Poncho is really comfy. I am sure the soft minky fabric helps!

I used a pink rosebud minky fabric I found on Etsy.  The minky fabric is so soft and makes you feel so luxurious.  Minky Fabric does shed a lot, but please do not be afraid of minky fabric! My best tips are to cut minky fabric from the wrong side, use a rotary cutter and use extra pins or wonder clips (my preferred method) to keep the fabric from sliding.  I think I am going to use my Brown Sweater Knit from Simply by Ti that I have been waiting to cut into.  Maybe to match my Mommy and Me Thanksgiving leggings? I think so!

Little dude wanted in on the picture as well!  I made his shirt with the Patterns for Pirates Jolly Roger Pattern.  He even asked if I could take a picture of just his sister and him too.  So I have to post that adorable cuteness too!

About Seams Sew Lo 173 Articles
Hi I'm Lo and I love to sew and I also love to play with my two children! I am a work at home Mom of two toddlers.  I never planned on staying home with the kids, however when I was 8 and 1/2 months pregnant with my first child, Little Dude, I was unexpectedly let go from my corporate job.  With a newborn and a tough job market, I decided to buy a Brother Sewing/Embroidery Machine and taught myself to sew. I would like to thank the many bloggers, youtube videos I have watched and PDF pattern designers for all their help. With a degree in International Business from Blaise-Pascal University in France I decided to open my own business, an Etsy shop.  I started making baby leg warmers and then added embroidered bodysuits.  I was so busy I couldn't keep up and had to seek out third party help. After my second child, Baby Girl, life became super busy.  There is something about little girls clothes that makes them so much fun to create.  I started venturing out to more articles of clothing.  It has been a fun adventure. I am learning as I go.  I sometimes skip steps or take short cuts, sometimes I take a long road to get where I need to go.  I don't think sewing needs to be perfect, I think it should be fun!!
