Festival Fever Sewing Blog Tour with George + Ginger

Have I ever mentioned how much I love blog tours?  They are so much fun!  I enjoy seeing all the sewing inspirations.  It is especially fun when, I, myself, am not running the actual blog tour.  As I know, exactly all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to organize a blog tour.   The George + Ginger Festival Fever blog tour is just what I needed to finally see The Sincerely Rylee Maxi Dress sewing pattern with the Georgette Crepe fabric I have been holding onto for a long a time.

Well, technically, I was trying to hold on  for a sneak peak I saw Kristi share not too long ago, however it has not yet released.  I am still impatiently waiting. LOL!  Once, I realized it was necessary to choose another pattern for the blog tour, I knew exactly what I needed to make.

Do you remember the amazing day when George + Ginger sewing patterns and Sincerely Rylee decided to collaborate and design a dress? I do and I grabbed the sewing pattern that same day.  I even grabbed this absolutely stunning Georgette Crepe fabric to make it as well.  The fabric has sat there on the shelf ever since and I had not even printed off the pattern…  Until now!!!

Introducing my version of the Sincerely Rylee Dress sewing pattern by George + Ginger.  The Sincerely Rylee Dress sewing pattern is a tiered, woven dress featuring two bodice styles and three skirt lengths, top, tea length and maxi. I only added to the top skirt.  Since, I am only 5’0″ tall t worked well, so if you are more of average size or taller, you may want to add length or the other skirt pieces.   You may find the pattern here.  Want the sewing pattern for free?  Yes, free!! All you have to do is join the George + Ginger Facebook Group and the Sincerely Rylee Facebook Group, then look in their pinned posts for the coupon code.

Honestly, when I first cut out the bodice and laid it across my chest I was worried.  I though to myself, there is no way this top is going to fit across my bust, even though I had gone with the size according to my measurements.  There was no need to worry, the bodice fits me perfectly.  In hindsight, I would change how I centered the bodice.  I was so concerned about trying to avoid having two large medallions directly on my breasts, that I did not think enough about centering the middle medallion.  Oh well, it still looks gorgeous.

Another concern I had about the bodice of the Sincerely Rylee dress was the ability to wear a bra.  I am happy to report, I was able to wear a normal strapless bra.  The strapless bra is angled down a bit along my sides and in the back, but it works and it stays.  Yay!!

My last concern I have had about making this dress was if the fabric was going to be too sheer.  I absolutely adore this print.  You may recononize the print from a few of my other posts like the Mommy and Me Matching Robes and Skirt turned Dress Hack.  Those were both made from a double brushed polyester.  So, when I saw the Sincerely Rylee Maxi Dress sewing pattern and at the same time Sincerely Rylee was selling this same print in Georgette Crepe, I had to buy it!  I had never even seen Georgette Crepe before, never touched it, and did not know anything about it.  All I knew is, I needed it.

Maybe this is the point where I mention, my husband hates this print…  I do not care, I LOVE it and so does Baby Girl! He has yet to see this dress, maybe he will change his mind when he does see it.

Since I have been hoarding this gorgeous Georgette Crepe for almost a year now, Sincerely Rylee unfortunately no longer has it in stock.  Check out the wovens she currently has in stock here.  She adds new fabric almost every Friday at 7pm Central time, so do not miss out on those stockings. Other places to find Georgette Crepe is Etsy, Fabric.com (they even have some 4th of July colors on sale), Amazon, plus be sure to check out your local fabric stores. It is a fantastic fabric.

Georgette Crepe fabric is a thin, breathable fabric, perfect for summer festivals.  The festival I originally planned to wear this dress was cancelled due to a thunderstorm, so I am taking it with me on vacation next month. It was very hot and humid when I took these photos and the lightweight fabric was perfect.

Let us not forget to talk about the back of the The Sincerely Rylee Maxi Dress sewing pattern by George + Ginger! The dress has a very open back and the straps help make the bodice adjustable. You can only see my bra between to the two back bodice pieces only slightly.  A great bralette wold be perfect for this sewing pattern.

As I mentioned the weather has been very hot and humid here, I have been using new products for my hair.  I used to straighten my hair all of the time, however in this humidity, it becomes almost pointless. I have started to embrace my girls more often.  Baby Girl and I both use Kinky Curly and have been for awhile.  When I was in Destin last March, a hairdresser introduced me to some new products that have now become an obsession. The Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe product line.  I specifically use the Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray and the Beach Babe texturizing hair cream. Love them both and they smell wonderful.

Although, I am a little sad it has taken me almost a year to make this dress, I am also happy I waited so long.  Last year i was 29 lbs heavier, so it would have not longer fit me.  Now go grab your Sincerely Rylee Dress here and then check out all the lovely ladies on the Festival Fever Blog Tour!
