The open back tank sewing pattern, the Good Sport Tank, just released last night by Ellie and Mac! I tested this pattern and I always a good reason to sew up some new workout clothes. Since, I am at the gym several times a week these days. Did you see the cover model for the sewing pattern listing? Yep, it is me!
Testing sewing patterns sounds amazing, however sometimes it is a lot of work. You usually have to make the sewing pattern several times to make sure the fit is correct, so that is a lot of time and fabric you may go through. Then, you try your best at getting your best photos of the item you made and then sometimes they do not even use your photos. They generally have hundreds of pictures to choose from, so it is awesome when they choose yours for the cover.
Disclosure: This post may contain some affiliate links, at not additional cost to you, if you purchase something, I may receive a commission. I received the pattern for free for testing the sewing pattern from Ellie and Mac. I, also, received the fabric for free from Simply By Ti Fabrics, however all thoughts and recommendations are my own.
The Good Sport Tank is currently on sale for the release, you can snatch it up here! Do not forget all of Ellie and Mac’s sewing patterns are currently 50% off this month, no code necessary. Plus, if you hurry, you may be able to still catch the $1 sewing patterns for wacky Wednesday here.
There are so many options with the Good Sport Tank, low neckline, high neckline, hood, no hood, pocket, curved hem option, open back, smaller peek a boo…. so many styles in one sewing pattern! I chose the straight hem option, no pocket, no hood, low neckline and open back. I would like to try the curved hem option next time.
Now the gorgeous fabric is from Simply By Ti Fabrics. You may find the lime green Cotton Lycra here and the turquoise Cotton Lycra here. The quality and weight of the fabric is amazing. The hardest part of sewing for me is choosing fabrics. I, of course, changed my mind several times on which fabric to choose for this outfit. It is generally a last minute decision for me. Since the colors are so bright, I was hoping they would work well together. I am so glad they did! I do not believe I have ever received as many compliments on my outfit at the gym as I did in this outfit yesterday. Although, my Pilates teacher was surprised when I walked into class with my hair down. LOL! It quickly went up.
The leggings so pattern is the Patterns for Pirates free Peg Legs Pattern here. This was the first time I was able to go down a size! So exciting!
My hair is actually so curly from going to bed with a wet with a bun on my head after a night swim in the pool behind me with the family. I literally took it out of the pony tail and it looked like this, still a bit wet. It dried quickly in the humid hot weather though. Between working out and swimming all of the time this summer, it is hard to take the time to do my hair this summer.
The open back of the Good Sport Tank sewing pattern is a lot of fun. There are two options, this is the full open back and there is also a small peek a boo option. Now if I had only had time to make a matching blue sports bra. LOL! If you cannot tell, I really like things to match. A few of my friends give me a hard time about my matching. I mean, I almost bought a pair of lime green tennis shoes (similar to these) at the store to match this outfit, except my kids went running out of the store before I could decide. Should I go back and get them? It is hard to ration for me when most of my work out classes I do barefoot.
Overall, I recommend the Good Sport Tank by Ellie and Mac. Go grab it on sale here! Not only is the open back style tank cute, it was also very practical in my workouts. I see myself making many more of these.
