Welcome to my stop on the 2018 Sew Americana Blog Tour presented by Wild and Wanderful!  In our home we love the 4th of July, you may check out the Mommy and Me dresses 4th of July dresses last year, plus Baby Girl’s new Miss Independent shirt.  When the opportunity knocked to make some more 4th of July outfits, I quickly opened that door.

Little Dude and Baby Girl recently spent a few days at their Grandparents house with us.  It was Baby Girl and I’s first time to ever be apart overnight.   I believe it was hard on both of us.  I am so happy they are back home.  The reason I tell you this, is my original plan was to take pictures of them in their 4th of July outfits with beautiful lake views at their Grandparents house, before we left to come home.

Is it not gorgeous??  Well, guess what I forgot to do before I left…  Yep, take pictures.  That put me in a bit of bind, as they were coming home on Wednesday evening and my blog tour post was going live on Thursday.  Yikes, that is cutting is close.  In the meantime, I decided to add some vinyl to their outfits.

I used this adorable Heart America Digital Cut file from Thread and Grain.  You may find it here.  I used silver holographic vinyl, you may find it here.  Origionaly, white vinyl was first choice, however I had a last minute change of heart. The silver holographic vinyl matched her silver sparkles in the skirt and sleeves fabric. Fabric details are further down in the post.  The Stars + Stripes Digital cut file I used for Little Dude’s shirt was also from Thread and Grain.  You may find it here.

When the kids arrived home, I was so excited to see them!!  I made dinner for the in-laws.  Afterwards, I attempted to take photos of the little ones before sunset.  Well, the 90% humidity and the scorching hot weather we were having did not get along with my camera.  My camera had been nicely sitting in the air conditioning inside and when it was introduced to the sweltering hot weather, my camera started to fog.  The first few pictures actually turned out solid white due to all the fogging.  I waited quite a while for my camera to warm up, however it was never enough.

The photo above is highly edited in Photoshop to remove as much fog as possible. You can really see the fog around her face.  If the dress looks familiar, it is because I made a similar one here in peach.  I used the Girls Daisy Dress sewing pattern by Petite Stitchery. You may find it here.  The absolutely stunning Red Rayon Spandex was gifted to me by Sly Fox Fabrics.  You may find it here.  The Blue Lace with Silver Sparkles fabric is from Simply By Ti Fabrics.  You may find it here.

With all the fog, my camera could not focus, nor give me good color.  I tried to wait it out again.  The kids took a little swing on their playground.

We were running out of sun and bedtime was nearing.  I was starting to stress a little bit, to say the least.  So, I took them inside, grabbed my umbrella lamp and tried again inside.

Luckily I was able to nab this cute photo of Little Dude in his 4th of July Shirt.  All of his photos outside, his face was too blurry.  I used the Jolly Roger Raglan sewing pattern by Patterns for Pirates for his shirt.  The white fabric is from Walmart, I am not sure on the red and the navy is left over scraps from my Drama Dress. You may also remember his anchor pants here.

Aren’t they adorable??  I missed them so much.  My camera was no longer foggy and my kids were finally being somewhat cooperative, then my camera stopped taking photos.  I looked at the screen and it read “card full.”  Noooooo!!  So, I just left it at that.  At least I was able to capture one adorable picture of the two of them!
